Real World Experience

Originally from the Republic of Fiji, I immigrated to the U.S. in 1995 and settled in South San Francisco in 1997 where my wife and I are raising our two daughters who are attending the local schools. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, a Master’s degree in Engineering, an MBA, and a Doctorate in Business Administration with a focus on Finance.

Since moving to South San Francisco, our family has come to love our city and we are working with our friends and neighbors to help make our community better.

Presently, I serve as a Vice-Chair of the Measure T Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee for the South San Francisco Unified School District and as the Chair of South San Francisco Housing Authority Funded by Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Professionally, I work as a finance manager for Stanford University providing financial reporting and analysis to help monitor and reduce costs for the University and identify budget process improvements. Prior to working at Stanford University, I served as a budget analyst for the Town of Hillsborough.

I am a Democrat running for South San Francisco City Council to provide my budget and local housing expertise to our community.

Maintaining a balanced budget and making prudent investments in city services is the most important job for our City Council. Presently, our city is grappling with an unprecedented but avoidable budget shortfall. Our budgetary challenges may impact the high-quality services our residents have come to rely upon and we need leadership to ensure that our City gets back on track.

As our city residents are aging, with nearly 39 percent of our residents now aged between 50 and 85 years old, ensuring that our City is providing the superior services residents have come to expect is critical. This includes providing adequate housing to meet the needs of residents at every stage of life while maintaining our quality of life and the character of our neighborhoods.
